This article is written based on the LaTeX Tutorial pt 2 - Sections and Paragraphs video, where we will continue to explore the uses of LaTeX. In this article, we’re looking at the more detailed nuances of outlining your document - like creating sections and commenting.
You can divide the document into different sections by adding “\section{ }”. Sections can be divided further into “\subsection{ }”, which in turn may be divided into “\subsubsection{ }”. The title of the new section should be within the curly brackets.
To begin a paragraph in LaTeX, skip a line in the code, then begin writing. Multiple blank lines have the same effect as leaving one blank line.
Comments in the code can actually annul the code, by adding a “%” sign in front of the code. For example, to remove the Title, add a “%” sign in front of the command. Comments can be added to the code by adding a “%” sign in front of the text, and then the comments wouldn’t show up on the actual document.
Comments should include explanations of the code, so that the reader of the code can better understand the code. Comments can also include progress updates or reminders, and regularly commenting on the code is a good habit.
