Hi! I'm Emily Su, an alum of Syosset High School. Math has helped me think creatively (and also improve in my physics class, and even predict price drops on items from my Amazon wishlist). While engaging in math through competitions and programs like NMT, NYML, and Awesomemath in high school, I was dismayed by the drastic drop in attendance from my female friends, especially at the high school level. I saw an opportunity to change this - this is why Girls Who Prove was conceptualized!

Hi! I’m Grace Lu, a student at Syosset High School. I have been involved in competition math since elementary school, and I have participated in HMMT, AIME, and USAJMO, to name a few. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve watched the percentage of girls in attendance at various math camps and competitions drop significantly. My desire to see this change for girls in STEM is what led me to be involved with Girls Who Prove.

Hi! I'm Alice Huang, a junior at Syosset High School. As someone who started doing competition math at a relatively late age (8th grade) with very little experience in the field, the initial task of picking up advanced olympiad math was extremely daunting to me. However, now, as an AIME qualifier and vice president of JV Mathletes, I believe that it's incredibly important to show the world, especially to young girls who are so underrepresented in the STEM field, that no matter what gender or age, anyone can succeed in mathematics if they wish to!

Hi! I'm Ivory Tseng, a senior at Syosset High School. I participated in math clubs in elementary and middle school, as well as Science Olympiad since middle school. As I entered high school, I noticed a drop in the amount of girls in STEM related programs, including myself. I'm one of the many girls who stopped doing math competitions because I didn't have the knowledge that they existed outside of school and didn't have an easy way to learn more advanced competition math. This is why I joined Girls Who Prove!

MATH QUESTIONS

Hi! I'm Kate Lin, a senior at Syosset High School. I've always been interested in STEM fields, and have been a part of Science Olympiad since middle school. I've also regularly done camps and programs at the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center since elementary school. I'm also the two time 1st place winner in the ASM Agar Art Contest—great for a mix of STEM and art! I joined Girls Who Prove to help show other girls that STEM doesn't have to be strictly STEM, and that anyone can succeed regardless of gender!

Hi! My name is Jasmine Liu. I've enjoyed STEM subjects since I was young and have had a lot of fun doing math and science competitions from elementary to high school. I hope that the current lack of females in STEM doesn't discourage girls from giving it a try. I also play tennis and enjoy reading in my free time!

Hi! I'm Ryan Su, a sophomore at Syosset High School. I have participated in a variety of math competitions including Math Olympiads (top scorer), the AMC competitions (AMC 8, 10), Purple Comet (2nd in state), and MATHCOUNTS (county individual #3, county team #1, made state). I'm the brother of Emily Su, the founder of Girls who Prove, and love math as much as she does!
